This past week the NJ Police Community Affairs Officers Association's Law Enforcement Career Development Course held its Spring 2018 graduation in Bergen County. This course was sponsored by the Bergen County Sheriff's Office along with the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and prepares college students interested in law enforcement careers for the entrance process. The 10 week course encompassed aspects of the hiring process and gave students the tools that they need to achieve careers in public safety. The course is the only one of its kind in the tri state area, and partner’s law enforcement with more than 23 colleges and universities. The course is focused on creating a professional and diverse workforce for the future of law enforcement and has graduated more than 700 students, many of whom have gained careers in law enforcement. Sheriff Michael Saudino and Prosecutor Dennis Calo were joined by representatives of law enforcement organizations. More than 80 students from throughout NJ and NYC graduated with diplomas.  “We believe that this program is highly effective tool to help recruit a diverse professional workforce", said Sheriff Michael Saudino. Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis stated in his remarks to the graduates "These are the faces of the future of law enforcement." The course was led by the Sheriff's Office Director of Communications William Schievella along with the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, Leonia PD, Fairview PD, Bergenfield PD, Hackensack PD, Rutgers University PD, Port Authority NY/NJ PD and several other agencies.
