The success of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department is not just from the efforts of one individual, or even a few, but the hard work and dedication of all of its members. The Sheriff's Executive staff support the mission of the Sheriff's Department and work to maintain a transparent and honorable department, providing exceptional law enforcement services to the residents of Bergen County.
Chief Kevin Pell

Chief Pell WebA career law enforcement professional, Kevin Pell has held a variety of positions in the Bergen County Sheriff’s office. As Chief Kevin oversees the daily operations of the Sheriff’s Office, oversees administrative and budget issues as well all units within the Sheriff’s Office excluding the Jail.

Inspector Kevin Pell began his law enforcement career in 1992 becoming a Correction Officer and maintained housing and security operations at the Bergen County Jail. He quickly moved up the ranks and in 2002 Inspector Pell was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. In April 2005, Kevin was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and in 2009 to the rank of Captain. As Captain, he coordinated the agency’s Accreditation program which was recognized by the state of New Jersey in 2013. In 2016 Kevin was promoted to the Chief of the Sheriff's office  by Sheriff Saudino. He is a Certified Public manager and has attended the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development program. Inspector Pell is also a state certified police instructor and a defensive tactics instructor.
