BERGEN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE BRINGS GOLD STAR I.D. PROGRAM TO TEANECK
TEANECK, N.J. – The Bergen County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) yesterday offered its Gold Star Identification Program to local senior citizens at the Teaneck Senior Center. The program provides first responders with vital medical information in the event of an emergency.
“Working in partnership with our local emergency responders and hospitals, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office is committed to delivering an unparalleled level of service to our residents,” Sheriff Leo P. McGuire said. “Through our Gold Star I.D. Program, we are saving lives and protecting our senior citizens and giving their loved ones peace of mind.”
The BCSO’s Gold Star Identification Program is run in conjunction with local fire departments, hospitals and emergency service providers. Participating senior citizens are issued a photo identification card, which corresponds to a file maintained by the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office’s 24-Hour Operations Unit. Data kept on file includes a list of family and emergency contacts, physician’s contact information, as well as current and prior medical conditions. In the event of an emergency, or if a participant becomes incapacitated during a medical emergency, the Operations Unit will release his or her emergency contact information to first responders.
The Gold Star Identification Program is also available for children with autism. For more information about the program, please contact the BCSO’s Community Outreach Unit at 201-336-3540.
