HACKENSACK - On 03/26/2009 the Connecticut Chief State's Attorney's Office obtained arrest warrants for three Colombian males charging them with:
Violation of Connecticut Organized Crime & Racketeering Act (CORA), Forgery 2, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 1, and 3 counts of Consp-Forgery 2.
The charges stemmed from an interstate organized retail crime scheme in NY, CT, RI, and MA. Two of the suspects were later arrested. The remaining suspect's name was Jorge Moreno.
Connecticut State Police Fugitive Task Force requested the BCSO's assistance in locating and apprehending Fugitive Moreno. After a three day investigation, the subject was apprehended by Sgt. Robert McManus and Officer Matthew Ryan Tuesday at the corner of E. Fort Lee Rd. & Leonia Ave. in Bogota. The subject was committed to BCJ and the extradition process has begun.
"The arrest of Mr. Moreno is another outstanding example of the resourcefulness of the brave men and women of the Bergen County Sheriff's Office," said Sheriff Leo McGuire. "Moreno's presence here is an illustration of the fact that too often our county serves as a waypoint for criminals from adjoining jurisdictions. To those just passing through I would advise them to steer clear of our communities. Those seeking safe haven from justice should know that there is no worse place to weather the storm. We will find you...wherever you hide."
