SHERIFF McGUIRE TO ATTEND FBI NATIONAL EXECUTIVE INSTITUTE

HACKENSACK - Today the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office announced Sheriff Leo P. McGuire’s acceptance into the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Executive Institute. The National Executive Institute (NEI) is the FBI’s training program for the heads of the largest state, county and local law enforcement agencies in the United States and entrance into the course is highly competitive.

“I am honored and humbled to have the opportunity to participate in this extraordinary program,” said McGuire. “The knowledge and insight into law enforcement that the NEI will afford me will undoubtedly benefit the people of Bergen County.”

In order to enroll in the NEI, participants must first be nominated by the Special Agent in Charge of their local FBI Field Office. Each class consists of 3 one-week sessions and is comprised of no more than 35. Participants must head an agency of roughly 500 officers and serve a population of more than a quarter million people.

“Since 1976 the NEI has shaped some of law enforcement’s top leaders,” McGuire added. “After spending so many of years of my career being inspired by theirs, I hope that I can benefit from some of the same lessons that fueled their success.”
