The Juvenile Intake Unit processes all Juvenile Complaints and Crisis Petitions from start to finish. Once a complaint or petitions has been received, it is docketed and scheduled for a hearing. That hearing may take place before a Judge, Referee, Probation Officer or Juvenile Conference Committee.
The Unit is also responsible for monitoring placement into the Juvenile Detention Center and/or Juvenile Shelter on a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week basis.

The Child Placement Review Unit is responsible for the case management of children placed outside their home by the Division of Youth and Family Services. Volunteer Review Boards are responsible for reviewing DYFS' placement plans and making recommendations to the Judge. The well-being of the children is the major concern of the Board members.
The Unit is also responsible for the case processing of all Abuse / Neglect and Guardian cases filed with the court by DYFS.

The Matrimonial Direct Filing Unit is located in Room 222D. Family Part at the Bergen County Justice Center. The Direct Filing Unit is responsible for the filing and processing of divorce cases in Bergen County. The Unit tracks cases from their onset to their completion. This includes, but is not limited to, docketing, filing, entering and processing of matrimonial pleadings. The Unit can be contacted at (201) 527-2508. Diane Rotonde is the Team Leader.

MOTIONS UNIT:
Should you wish to file a Motion or an Order To Show Cause regarding a case with an FM docket number, the Motions Unit can be contacted by telephone at (201) 527-2503. This office accepts filings in person, via mail or delivery service. There is a filing fee of $15.00. Once a Motion or Order To Show Cause is scheduled by this office, all adjournment inquiries should be directed to the individual Judges' Chambers. Location/Mailing Address: Room 222A.
PRE-TRIAL UNIT:
Should you have an inquiry regarding the scheduling or adjourning of a Case Management Conference (CMC) or a Mandatory Early Settlement Panel(MESP), the Pre-trial Unit can be contacted by telephone at (201) 527-2424. This Unit also schedules Post-judgment Mandatory Early Settlement Panels/Plenary Hearings. In addition, this Unit will assist you with any inquiries regarding Custody / Visitation Mediation referrals. Location / Mailing Address: Room 222B.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INTAKE OFFICE

SERVICES PERFORMED:
- Assistance with application for restraining orders.
- Assistance with request for appeal hearings (appeal of a temporary restraining order only).
- Assistance with request for review, modification, and enforcement hearings (i.e., post judgment proceedings)
- Assistance with application of support, custody and visitation when a restraining order is in effect
- Assistance with the filing of dismissal requests.
- Bail information.
- Schedule bail reduction or arraignment hearings (disorderly contempt cases only).
- Schedule weapon forfeiture hearings.
- Assist defendants in applying for pro-bono attorneys (in contempt cases only).
- Fax all restraining orders to police departments and other specified agencies.
- Outreach for plaintiffs who do not appear for hearings.
- Process all domestic violence motions.
- Photographs taken of victims where bruises or scratches are evident.
ELIGIBILITY:
1. A victim of domestic violence is any person who is eighteen years or older who has been
subjected to violence by:
a. A spouse
b. A former spouse
c. Any person with whom the victim has a child in common (i.e. never married, co-parents).
d. Any person who is a present or former household member.
e. A present or former boyfriend or girlfriend. The victim who falls under the dating relationship category can be younger then eighteen years of age. However, the defendant must be a present or former boyfriend or girlfriend who is eighteen years or older.

Non-Dissolution Unit
Processing unit for filing paternity, child support spousal support, medical, parental and grand-parent visitation complaints. There is a $5.00 fee required to process the child support petition, otherwise no other fees are required.
Motion applications to modify existing court ordered, or to reduce and/or vacate child support orders are filed here. Consent Hearings may also be scheduled through this unit, if the parties can agree on the terms of custody and visitation.
Family Intake Unit
This unit mediates paternity, support, custody, visitation, and spousal support matters with FD docket numbers. Applications are processed from obligees to have future support payments made payable through Probation.
Blood and genetic testing is scheduled in paternity matters if ordered by the Court.
Interstate Support Unit
If you, as a custodial parent residing in Bergen County, are having difficulty either securing an order for paternity and/or child support or enforcing your order for child support and the non-custodial parent has moved out of the State of New Jersey, there is help. Interstate support cases are handled by the Interstate Unit of the Bergen County Family Division located in Room 148.
